During the COVID‑19 pandemic, different measures are put in place to prevent the spread of the virus. Confinement and physical distancing measures are effective strategies to prevent contagion. However, these strategies can have a negative impact on the mental health of children and adolescents, with possibly worse outcomes for children and adolescents who had mental health issues before the pandemic. We will review the information available on the effect of pandemics on the mental health of children and adolescents to identify ways to better support them and their families. We will also identify the ethical challenges that can be present for these families in the context of a pandemic and offer ways to address them. We will summarize the information available and share the results within one month after the start of the project. We will then update the results based on additional information available in the following months. Our goal is to provide concrete ways to better support children and adolescents’ mental health needs and their families.
