Canadian Wastewater Surveillance: Where are we now?

Wastewater-based epidemiology is a promising public health surveillance tool for tracking SARS-CoV-2 for a community or institution population. Dr. Steve Hrudey, chair of the COVID‑19 Wastewater Coalition’s national Research Advisory Group, gives CanCOVID an update on current status and discusses the critical challenges for implementing wastewater-based epidemiology of COVID‑19 in Canada. In addition, the Coalition’s Public Health Advisory Group has developed ground-breaking guidance on ethics and communications for this novel approach.
