COVID-19 Disinformation/Misinformation Among Black Canadians

Anti-Black racism, inequities in social determinants of health, and dis/misinformation contribute to high rates of COVID‑19 infection and low uptake of COVID‑19 vaccination. This presentation will focus on a review of the literature on COVID‑19 dis/misinformation among Black people and their perception of COVID‑19 as shared on social media and other online platforms. Drs. Salami and Kemei will also present emerging data from a Canadian study illuminating how Black communities in Canada have been tackling dis/misinformation.
