“NeuroCOVID”

Speakers: A Sekular, S Gray

Evidence is accumulating that the COVID‑19 coronavirus can infect and negatively impact the brain. Since early in April, scientists at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest have partnered to embark on a study assessing the mechanisms and consequences of this neuroinvasion. The study, called NEUROCOVID19, involves neuroimaging; sensory, cognitive, and emotional behavioural assessment; and electrophysiological recording, and is poised to become a national initiative. In this presentation, Drs. Graham and Sekuler will discuss the underlying motivation for the project, its experimental design, initial progress in data collection, and opportunities for collaboration.
